MOVING TO VEGAS!!!

Yes, you read that right, and no it is not a typo. We are moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in about 3 weeks!! With the military, you always have to be on your toes and ready for change...and that is what we are doing! Our orders have changed and we are now being stationed at Creech AFB in Las Vegas! We are very excited to be moving west and are getting into MOVE mode. We will miss San Antonio, it has been good to us...but on to new adventures!

Funny Bunny Buns

We found a great new recipe in the magazine "The Friend" for some Bunny Buns. We had a great time making our cute bunnies and they taste GREAT!!! Yum, yum. If you like orange rolls, you will love these!

Bunny Buns

1 pkg yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 c. milk, warmed not quite to boiling
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 tea. salt
2 eggs
1/4 c. orange juice
2 T. grated orange peel
5 1/2 c. flour

Glaze: 2 c. powdered sugar, 1/4 c. hot water, 1 tea. butter

Sprinkle yeast in warm water, set aside. In another bowl, blend warm milk, sugar, shortening, and salt. Cool until lukewarm, then add eggs, yeast/water, orange juice, and orange peel. Stir in flour. Pinch off some dough, roll to make long snake shapes. Fold snake in half and twist top to make bunny shape. Pinch off tiny piece of dough for nose, roll into a ball and place on bunny for nose. Let bunnies rise for 20 min. Bake 375 for 12-15 min. Glaze while warm...add small chocolate chips, etc. for face. Makes approx. 20 bunnies

**we modified the recipe just a little from original... (just the rising time and instead of full body bunnies (tail and face), we did just the head (tail became a nose!!)..so if you want to see the original bunnies you can find it online!

Hoppy Easter...HAHA

Spring Break Get-A-Way

With Corpus Christi only a few hours away, we felt the draw of the ocean and the call of the waves....so we took a few days of leave and headed off. We got a hotel right across from the beach, so we could walk there at our will... The boys were so excited to check out our room...that within the first 5 minutes, Preston had jumped off the 1/2 wall room divider and hurt his foot....really?? Well...Preston's foot was out of commission the entire weekend, but we were determined not to let it ruin the weekend trip. Luckily we had the jogger stroller that became Preston's personal wheel chair, and as far as the beach..he got around pretty good by crawling...it's a bummer that he couldn't jump the waves and play hard like the Preston we know...but he was a trooper..never complained and got in as much water as he could!

On our 3 day get a way we managed to hit the beach several times, visit the mermaid and her castle, see the giant shark, and get sun burned like no tomorrow...so needless to say, on Saturday...we wanted to go tour the Lexington (aircraft carrier), but with Laura, Clay, and CJ almost out of commission with burns, Preston still unable to walk, and Aparri nap deprived...we felt that rather than push our luck, we better head for home...so, I guess the Lexington will have to wait until our next visit!!! All-in-all it was a great trip, relaxing, fun, no stress, and the beach...what else could you ask for?

Our First 5K

Clay and Laura enjoy running, but neither of them had ever done an "official" run before. So, when one of Laura's friends at church challenged her to do a 5K...we both took that challenge to heart. We found a 5K that was on Saint Patrick's Day and thought that it would be fun to do as a family....so we started training. We figured we would push Preston and Aparri in the stroller and CJ could ride his bike. The first day of training was windy and.... a little rough (tears, tired legs, etc.), but the second and third days were a lot better (smiling, and feeling good). When race day came, everyone was excited...we had our festive shirts, CJ had on his lucky socks (Thanks Papa and Nana), and off to the race we went. It was a great experience....it was hard, we had sore legs, but WE DID IT!!! YIPPEEE...

Little Texan

Preston Loves his Boots...and he wears them everywhere and with every outfit- pants or shorts....In every kind of weather...Winter, Summer, Snow, Rain, doesn't matter the boots are on! (Don't worry...we are yet to let him wear them to church...that is one place Mom and Dad put their foot down...)But, they are back on the minute we get home!

Backyard swingers

The kids love the backyard swing that Clay put in the tree for them! CJ, Preston and little Aparri love to take a turn. The minute Clay comes home, they are asking him to push them high on the swing (Mom can't push nearly as high as Dad!)! As you can see they don't even let him change his clothes!!! Nope...right outside Dad...we need you!

Preston's Life Lessons

Preston has been learning all sorts of lessons lately...some the hard way. We have been working with Preston trying to get him more comfortable on his big bike with training wheels...and he had been doing really well. The other day, he rode all the way down our street and to the park...big accomplishment for him. The other life lesson that Preston had the pleasure of learning was at playgroup last week! He discovered that rocks are fun to play with (which, he has been playing with rocks his whole life..the kid loves them...so Laura didn't think twice when our friends had a bunch of rocks in their backyard...well...) apparently, Preston hasn't experimented enough with rocks in his little life, because on Monday, he learned the valuable lesson that rocks don't go up our noses....yes, that is right...he stuck a rock up his nose. Thank heavens it wasn't all the way up and with a few good blows and some work by Laura's magic fingers we got the slimy little devil out....and had a relieved Preston....I think he will remember that lesson for a long time.

My Little Builders

For his birthday, CJ got a "wood-working" building kit. It comes equipped with special plastic "wood" that you cut with the tools and then put together with their nails and screws. It is a pretty ingenious kit.... and the kids have loved it! When CJ opened it on his birthday (Tuesday), he wanted to go to town building right away, but we made him wait until Saturday...and both CJ and Preston counted down...every day we would be told how many days until Saturday so they could BUILD!! And when Saturday arrived, they wasted no time, getting out the building kit and going to work.... we were pretty impressed with everything CJ made-check out his boat and cannon!!...Preston pretty much wanted to cut everything that he could- we had to keep reminding him that you cut to make, not just cut for fun!!

Playin' in the Rain

There is not much that the Ward kids love more than a rainstorm....so the other morning when we got ready to go for a run and were hit with a instant downpour...none of the kids complained...rather they squealed with delight, strapped on their boots, grabbed the umbrellas and headed outside for some rainy fun....poor little sister tried hard to keep up, but somehow the umbrellas never made it over her head..so..she ended up completely soaked from head to toe...but she didn't seem to mind that either!
