Funny Bunny Buns
We found a great new recipe in the magazine "The Friend" for some Bunny Buns. We had a great time making our cute bunnies and they taste GREAT!!! Yum, yum. If you like orange rolls, you will love these!
Bunny Buns
1 pkg yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 c. milk, warmed not quite to boiling
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 tea. salt
2 eggs
1/4 c. orange juice
2 T. grated orange peel
5 1/2 c. flour
Glaze: 2 c. powdered sugar, 1/4 c. hot water, 1 tea. butter
Sprinkle yeast in warm water, set aside. In another bowl, blend warm milk, sugar, shortening, and salt. Cool until lukewarm, then add eggs, yeast/water, orange juice, and orange peel. Stir in flour. Pinch off some dough, roll to make long snake shapes. Fold snake in half and twist top to make bunny shape. Pinch off tiny piece of dough for nose, roll into a ball and place on bunny for nose. Let bunnies rise for 20 min. Bake 375 for 12-15 min. Glaze while warm...add small chocolate chips, etc. for face. Makes approx. 20 bunnies
**we modified the recipe just a little from original... (just the rising time and instead of full body bunnies (tail and face), we did just the head (tail became a nose!!)..so if you want to see the original bunnies you can find it online!
Hoppy Easter...HAHA
